As we move along, I am trying to get back into a normal routine, which means writing my blog on a weekly basis. When I write a blog, I will publish it and email you all the link. The calendar info here is pretty much the same as in the SIS bulletin. As things come up, they will be added to the calendar list. If you ever have questions about an upcoming event or if I need to add something, email me.

TalentEd is not my friend! Last year, because of TalentEd, I ended up doing summative evaluations on everyone. So, this year, even though I have been fighting with it nonstop, I hope to get the kinks worked out. I have gone in and "started a process" with all of you.

Some of you are 1st and 2nd year teachers and your process is different than everyone else. You have 13 items to check off your list. Some of you are due for a summative (even though you may have had one last year unnecessarily). You have 10 items on your list. And some of you are tenured and in an off year. You only have three things to do (lucky dogs).

The first thing everyone has to do (and for some of you, the only thing) is a growth plan. A personal growth plan is just what the name says. A growth plan for you. In the past, the district has selected your focus for you. We have done data (7.2), a lot. Of course, that falls right in line with what we are doing with the CW project, so we thought it would be an easy and low risk way to learn how to do growth plans. I think we've got it.

So, your growth plan needs to be an indicator that you feel like you need to improve in. I recommend (4.1) student engagement and critical thinking, because we could all be better at that and it is, hands down, the best way to increase achievement. You may feel like you need (2.4) differentiated lessons or (5.1) classroom management. It's your growth plan. Choose what you know you need to grow in.

When you've chosen, think about where you rate on that standard on a scale of 0 to 7. FYI - none of you are a zero in any standard and not many of you are a 7 in any standard (if you think you are, don't choose that one). Here is a link to the DESE form that lists all the standards with a brief description and a page of possible evidence that you are doing the standard.

Growth Guides

Remember the point of the Personal Growth Plan is for you to get better at what you do so your students will become more successful on their growth (SLO). So choose something meaningful. BTW - SLO info will be coming next:)

I would like for all growth plans to be completed by Friday, October 7.

Digital Resources

Angie Rideout has been working to get all of our digital resources up and running. We are now good to go on Study Island, MobyMax, AR, and BrainPop. If you need to know your login for any of those sites, let us know. We are still working to get a few things off the ground such as SRI, Reflex, and Gizmos, but they are coming. And hopefully our chrome books are coming, too.

I'm happy to be here! It isn't perfect. We have a lot of work to do to our building and we have a lot of work to do to our scores, but this group of teachers, right here, is the group that is going to make things happen. I wouldn't want to be here with anyone else. Thanks for all you do.

A little motivational video...
