Image result for great job

Thanks for such a great start to our year! I appreciate everyone chipping in and helping where needed, but more than that, it just seems like we have a great positive atmosphere going on. Thanks.

I'm sure all of you noticed how great our new site is. It has all of the links we need in one convenient place. The whole idea of a building site came about when I asked Michele Carmode to help me come up with a way to do a Pineapple Chart digitally because we really didn't have a central location to post one. I asked her what she thought and within a day or so I had an entire website devoted to all things Middle School. Kudos to Michele for being an overachiever:)

However, the impetus behind all of this was the need for a place to sign up on our Pineapple Chart. And now we have that (bottom of the home page). What I need now are a few brave souls who would be willing to put some lessons out there and invite colleagues to come into their room and observe. I also need some brave people to observe their colleagues and provide them with feedback to help improve their practice. I have developed (aka - stolen) the following document to use when observing. Just print it off and fill it out while you observe. This form is not for me and is not for evaluative purposes. You and the person you observe then discuss the lesson when you are done. Hopefully, this benefits both the the observer (with new ideas) and the observee (with feedback).

If you are a person who would like to be observed, but you are looking for something more specific than what is on my form, just work that out with the observer when they come in.

You might think it's a little early to be talking about Casino Night, but I wanted to give you a heads up on how we are going to do things this year.

This year, you will have the entire year to work on gaining chips for Casino Night. We will have several ways for you to earn chips throughout the year, but we will not be giving every person $200 when they come in. You will only be able to play with what you earned throughout the year.

Also, we will not be giving money to non-employees. So, if you bring your husband and he wants to play, you will have to spot him a few chips to get him started. This makes the auction at the end a little more fair for those who are flying solo.

I will let you know when your first opportunity to earn chips will be:)

ISS is up and running. We sat down with Mr. Prater today to iron out a few procedural things he would need to know.

First and foremost, he is here to build relationships with our students. We want Mr. Prater to be a positive role model and to encourage the students in ISS to make better choices.

Mr. Prater is also here to make sure your students stay caught up on their work. With that being said, some of the work you all teach is pretty hard. Be sure to send detailed instructions and be ready to provide assistance. You might email him any answer keys he needs.

We will have assignment sheets for ISS this year. Be sure to fill them out. We also need you to list if your student has an IEP with minutes that need to be served. 6th grade IEP minutes will be served at the beginning of the day and 4th and 5th grade minutes will be served at the end.

You can use ISS for a time out if you need to. Of course, I would recommend that you utilize your partner teacher or someone else in your hallway if you need a quick time out, but if that isn't working, then ISS is allowed.

Students in ISS do not get to use chromebooks. That means all assignments will need to be paper pencil. We will have a few desktop computers setup, but by and large, chromebooks make it too easy for kids to have "fun" while in ISS.

Students in ISS do not get to attend PSR.

Here is a good one from Drew Dudley:)
